NPR Student Podcast Challenge đ
A great way to offer your students a real-world opportunity!
Weâve all been told of the benefits of having students do âreal-worldâ activities to help prep them for, well, the âreal worldâ (whatever that means). The NPR Student Podcast Challenge is a great way to give your students an avenue to create something to put out for a wider audience. For a few years I advertised it to my students, and itâs an awesome option for those students you have who may move a little more quickly and are looking for a fun learning experience.
Some details on the Student Podcast Challenge:
This year it runs from January 6-April 28, 2023
Students can create a podcast about any topic theyâd like to explore
Students can complete it solo or with a group
It can be in the format of their choosingâinterview, investigative reporting, narrative, etc.
The maximum length is eight minutes
Entries must be submitted by an Educator or student leader who is 18 or older
NPR provides tons of resources for your kids and examples for your kids, so this can be as hands off for you as you want it to be. Just direct them to the information and let them run with it! (It also never hurts to offer a little extra credit if they submit, if thatâs your style.)
